  • is fully and properly funded. Capital is via a Christchurch-based private equity grouping, that represents a serious commitment to the city, the region, the Club, and the NRL.

 

  • will be ready and highly competitive for both NRL & NRLW Premierships and do so through the deployment of a high-quality/low-impact recruitment process.

 

  • has an experienced and capable operational team that has successfully led NRL and other major professional Rugby League clubs around the world.

 

  • will invest in sports and education pathways to help unlock the talent and build participation of kids from the ‘footy-rich’ resource in its home region .

 

  • is motivated and committed to a new zealousness, to contribute to the NRL, its successful expansion and sustainable future innovation.

The Southern Orcas Region

  • is anchored in Christchurch, where it intends to play its home games at the Te Kaha stadium (opening March 2026), and where its commercial operations are based.                               

  • embraces the surrounding Canterbury region, from where it will operate a world-class multi-sport centre of excellence to develop and support elite competitivity.                                       

  • encompasses the Southern North Island to the Southern South Island. Inhabited by just over 2 million, it includes magical cities like Wellington, Dunedin, and Queenstown.          

  • exudes an in-built tenacity for winning, and is especially recognised for producing tough, quick, skilled footy players.      

  • provides a completely different, yet highly logical geography that is complementary and beneficial to existing NRL territories.
